23 Mar Tasting 3/23: Skylark Wine Company, 5:30-7
So many of the greatest adventures in West Coast wine have started in the minds of sommeliers. Skylark is one of them.
Begun with an idea to create a single barrel of wine from Syrah, John Lancaster and Robert Perkins who were colleagues in wine at the great Boulevard Restaurant in San Francisco, found themselves with 14 barrels in 2002 and increasing demand for more. Through the relationships they forged at Boulevard and with the cumulative experience of having tasted the greatest wines in the world across many vintages, Skylark Wine Company was born.
The wines were met with much critical acclaim hailing Perkins and Lancaster’s fresh perspective on California fruit, eschewing the barrel in favor of bright fruits and florals.
We will be tasting Mendocino Pinot Blanc, Sonoma Chardonnay, and two North Coast Red Blends that have been compared to the best wines from Chateauneuf du Pape. Prices range from 20-30.
