12 Aug Attention Whiskey Nerds
Attention all whiskey nerds! The newest arrival in the Wine Shoppe Custom Bottling Series of whiskeys has made it to our door. Exclusively picked by us for us, the single barrel select Whistle Pig just landed in The Shoppe. After careful tasting (trust us, it was tough), we were sure to pick the most flavorful batch with just the right amount of spice and barrel influence rye whiskey lovers crave. Aged over 10 years & 100% rye, you absolutely need this on your bar!
Whistle Pig has become one of the gold standards in Rye Whiskey in the last few years, and we were very lucky to be approached by Master Distiller Dave Pickerell to be a part of their new barrel selection program. As you might imagine, we jumped at the chance. When someone brings you samples of delicious cask strength whiskey you don’t turn that down! While each barrel we had the chance to try was delicious, we settled on this as the most elegant and balanced of the bunch. This is a whiskey that is both bold and refined, spicy yet carameled. We picked this barrel for its perfect combination of nose and palate. Bottled at cask strength and from our personally selected barrel, this really is as good as it gets in our opinion.
Whistle Pig does bottle their own cask strength and single barrel bottling, Boss Hog, and while it is delicious, it is both hard to come by and rather expensive at $169.99 per bottle. Well, never fear! While our supply is limited, we have enough for you to snag a bottle or two if you act fast, and at just $84.99 a bottle it is truly a steal! This is one of our favorite custom bottles ever and we know you will feel the same, so grab one and share it with friends.
And keep your eyes peeled! We headed up to Buffalo Trace Distillery a few weeks ago to do some tasting in order to pick out our barrel selections for this fall. Believe us when we tell you not to miss out on these when they arrive in a few months, and check out our Instagram for pictures of the trip for a sneak peak into the selection process!
Cheers and happy whiskey-ing to you all!
